While subway tiles are a timeless classic and still a popular choice, they are often available in many beautiful colors for a more dramatic look.

The countertop drives the rest of the design. As in any room, you need a focal point. In a kitchen, it’s normally the island or cook top. If you choose top with a lot of pattern and color you don’t want the other components to compete, you want them to compliment.  If you choose a more simple top with less veining and netural colors you can have your “wow” moment somewhere else.
